3 EFFECTIVE WAYS CODING PREPARES YOUR KIDS FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE
Post by — Joy Krinbut

About 10 to 20 years ago, few people could predict that the world would be dominated and changed by technology.
The emergence of technology has changed the way things were been done in many industries, for example, how artificial intelligence like Siri and Alexa have taken communication between man and computer to a whole different level and how you can seat in the comfort of your home and order for things online instead of going down to the store to purchase them.
Most professional careers today require that a person should be able to interact with online tools like search engines, email, social media platforms and many more.
In the nearest future, it would go further than just having the ability to interact online. Recent research puts coding at the forefront of future careers. Nearly 50% of all jobs require some coding skills.
Most of the tech giants founders we know today like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page and many more started playing around with codes at a young age and today their impact can be felt all round the world.
The point here is; it’s important to invest and nurture certain skills in our kids so that they would be able to make an impact in the future workforce.
We may not initially see the immediate return on investment of learning these skills, just as learning to code a decade ago may not have seemed important to kids and their parents.
Experts agreed that the future would bring key challenges, meaning that the future workforce would be in need of people who are equipped to proffer solutions to these challenges.
Here are a few ways coding skills can help prepare your kid for a bright the future.
1. Creativity

The future workforce would require creative minds that can come up with innovative ideas and bring these ideas to reality.
The future workforce does not just need an individual with different ideas and facts but those who can present them in a very creative manner that can generate positive results.
Learning how to code helps to stimulate creativity among kids. Coding empowers kids to not only consume digital media and technology but to create it. Kids build and write their code to create websites, video games, and other interactive programs.
2. Problem solving
As earlier stated, the future would bring key challenges and the future workforce would require people who can proffer solutions these challenges.
Coding is all about problem-solving. All coding projects start with a problem to be solved.
Whether its bringing an idea into real life, improving how something works or fixing something that’s broken, every coding project involves problem-solving.
Coding gives kids an idea of how they can solve problems logically and creatively. Coding helps in optimizing and simplifying steps to solve complex problems.
3. Critical thinking

Critical thinking is all about making judgements and decisions based on reason and logic.
The future would consist of lots of data and the future workforce would require those that can think critically to analyse these data.
Kids who code develop a disciplined process for analyzing problems, gathering data and information, understanding the objective, distinguishing between possible solutions, predicting possible results and choosing a problem-solving approach.
When kids code, they learn how to communicate with the most simple-minded audience imaginable: computers. Coding teaches kids how to break down complex ideas and arrange them in a way that computers can understand.
